Good morning! Glad to see you! How are you doing? I hope you are fine. Did you watch TV yesterday? What programmes did you watch? Discuss in pairs. As for me, I watched a music programme. And what about you? Did you watch ...?
So, as we see many pupils watched TV. And today we are going to speak about our favourite programmes and films. And discuss why we like them. |

Let’s recite a poem about TV which you’ve learnt at home by heart. First we’ll revise it all together. Then you are going to listen to your partner attentively and give marks to each other.
It’s true you like watching your TV. Let’s say that your brother or sister or parents love watching it, too. Model: I love watching MY TV. We love watching OUR TV. He loves watching HIS TV. etc

Yes, we enjoy watching TV as it shows us the cool things we can do and we also learn a lot from it. You are going to watch a short video twice and answer the following questions. Does Marina like watching TV? What are her favourite programmers? Discuss in your pairs and report to the class.

Pass the envelope. Stand in a circle. Pass the envelope while the music plays. When the music stops, the student who has the envelope takes a card out of it and makes a true sentence with the word on the card. Use the verbs: like / love / don’t mind / don’t like / hate and the object pronouns him / her / it / them Model: TV series. I enjoy watching them because they are exciting. A comedy. I don’t mind watching it because it’s amusing; etc.

Let’s open our books on page 76. Ex. 5a, b The task is to listen to the interview between Kate and her grandparents and make true sentences about their likes and dislikes. Kate: Excuse me. I’m from the “School TV” programme. Can I ask you a few questions? Granny: Yes, sure. I want to be on TV! Kate: So, do you often watch TV? Granny: Yes! I love it! I watch it all day! Kate: Oh, really? Do you ever watch the news? Grandad: Yes, very often. It’s interesting. Kate: I see. What about quiz shows? Granny: Sometimes. They’re amusing. Kate: I see. Do you often watch romantic films? Grandad: Never. They’re boring! Granny: No, they aren’t! They’re touching. I always watch them. Kate: What about horror films? Grandad: We never watch horror films. We hate them. They’re scary! Granny: Yes, they’re horrible! Kate: OK. Do you watch TV series? Grandad: Rarely. They’re silly! Granny: Oh, I like detective TV series! They’re exciting Kate: Thank you very much. Grandad: You’re welcome. |

In exercise 6а on page 77 you can read the questions and answers for your dialogue. Work in pairs and do the task. Now say three facts about your partner’s favourite TV programmes and films ( exercise 6b ,page 77)
It’s very important to remember that TV can be a friend as one poem says but we shouldn’t spend too much time watching it because we have many other favourite activities and we have our families and friends to enjoy spending our time with them. Do you agree with me? Of course, you do. |

Цели: развитие у учащихся умений делать сообщения в ходе обсуждения задания по теме; развитие умений понимать на слух аутентичный англоязычный текст; развитие умений рассуждать на английском языке, обобщая услышанное, включая и свой собственный жизненный опыт; развитие умений прогнозирования
Оборудование: учебник, видеозапись, раздаточный материал: карточки со словами и заданиями, разноцветные листы для рисования Time Maps

III. Listening (10 min)
One of the greatest speeches ever/Steve Jobs
NEW Words:
Drop out – to stop doing something before you have completely finished (Cambridge Dictionary)
College tuition – the money paid for teaching in a college
To figure something out – to find the solution to a problem after a lot of thought
Typography – the design of the writing on a computer screen; the style and size of the letters used in printing
Listen to one of the best motivation speeches and answer the questions
- Did Steve Jobs continue his education after he dropped out college? (Yes, he did)
- What did he start doing after that? What course did he choose? (He began dropping in on the classes that looked far more interesting for him. He chose calligraphy)
- What advice does Steve Jobs give in the end? (You have to trust in something good because it will give you the confidence to fallow your heart)
- What is the main idea of his speech in your opinion? (pupils’ own variants, which should lead to the idea that further education is very important for people even if they stop getting higher education)
Well after listening to Steve Jobs can you say that higher education is always a pass to a successful career. Why/ why not? (pupils’ own variants)
- Group discussion (15 min)
(The pupils are divided into 3 groups voluntary and choose the cards with the names John Green, Steve Gray and Peter Smith)
The pupils get the cards with the beginning of the story, task and useful vocabulary:
Three friends are leaving school and planning their future. Their names are John Green, Steve Gray and Peter Smith. They are smart, hard-working, diligent and ambitious students showing high academic results. But only John Green is going to enter a university just after leaving school. Steve Gray wants to enter a vocational school. As for Peter Smith he is going to start working just after the Graduation Day…
The task! Think of all possible positive ways of the development of their future successful career. Then take the paper and draw The Time Map showing on it the stages of this development.
(While the pupils are fulfilling the task, the teacher is watching them, answering the questions or explaining some difficult points)
- Group storytelling! (10 min)
Now continue the story of the three friends describing all the ways to a successful career.
Groups present their forecasts to the class.
- Conclusion and results! (5 min)
Well, do you remember what goal we have set in the beginning?
Have we proved that education is necessary to a successful career? Why or why not?
How difficult is it for you to make up a successful career forecast?
VII Home task:
Draw the Time Map for your future career and make up a story about it.
